That says Maarten Regouin, lector of the Hanzehogeschool Groningen, in an article on ScienceGuide. He did research on the appreciation of a foreign stay during someones study. Over 95 per cent of the students say that they developed themselves during their time abroad. Less than half of the respondents say that it was functional for their study.
According to Regouin it’s possible to increase the effect of a study abroad by a better and more specific preparation. He pleads for individuality trainings and finds it important that students know how to work for their profession competencies while they are abroad. [MK]
