Each year, Avans welcomes hundreds of foreign students from all parts of the world. To celebrate this Avans participates in the Week of the International Student. On 13 and 15 November foreign students can take part in two activities in Breda and Den Bosch.

The Week of the International Student is organized by NUFFIC, the Dutch organization for internationalization in education to promote the Netherlands to students from abroad. From 12 till 16 November they will put foreign students in the spotlight. Avans joins the initiative by organizing a Stand-Up Comedy Night in Breda and a Pubquiz in Den Bosch.

“We can do more for students from abroad”
This is the first time Avans participates in the Week of the International Students. “We see that Avans organizes many activities for native students, but so far not much has been done for foreign students”, says Leontine van Waes of Avans International Office. “This year, we want to change that. In September we had a Welcome BBQ for foreign students and it was a huge success. This showed us that we can do more for students from abroad.”

Stand-Up Comedy
The Stand-Up Comedy Night takes place at Café Publieke Werken in Breda on Tuesday 13 November and starts at 6 PM. Two English comedians will bring the evening to life with one-liners, hilarious anecdotes and subtle jokes. Interested? You have untill 9 November to reserve a seat. A seat costs ten euro, dinner is included.

Pubquiz
The pubquiz is at Café Zomers & Zomers in Den Bosch on Thursday 15 November and starts at 8 PM. Participation is free and includes two beers but seats have to be reserved before 15 November.

Instagram takeover
The Week of the International Student will also be celebrated on social media. The Instagram page of Avans is to be taken over by students from abroad. It also pays to keep an eye out on the Facebook page of Avans International where students can win Dutch food such as Stroopwafels. There will also be a series of short interviews with foreign students about Dutch food.

Punt. Of had jij nog wat?
