Almost 90.000 foreign students are studying in the Netherlands this year, of whom 23.000 come from outside Europe, according to international education body EP-Nuffic. This Wednesday and Thursday Avans organises orientation days for foreign students.
A record 10 percent of the Dutch student body come from abroad, EP-Nuffic said. In particular, the increase in the number of English language degree courses, the open Dutch society and high standards are a draw according to the organisation.
Good for the economy
Foreign students are good for the Dutch economy says Freddy Weima, director of EP-Nuffic, said in a statement. Particularly if they remain in the Netherlands after graduating. In addition, they form good ambassadors for the Netherlands if they move on or return home, he said.
